![]() A fun albeit sometimes frustrating mechanic, but since the strength of my build rewarded agressive play, rarely did the AI get a chance to utilize it properly, especailly considering my decks snowball potential. There's an interesting mechanic called destiny draw where the game will give you a card on a draw if you're close to losing a duel that could turn the tide if utilized correctly, this applied to you and your opponent. Even with the OP build, the strategies that each opponent would employ were varied and I certainly didn't steamroll every oppnent. ![]() I don't have much to share of the story since not only have I not finished it, but from what i've gathered from the youtube videos, it's all about the battles. Battle time varies depending on the RNG of your draws, but i'd say it could range from 15-30 minutes. Each new battle and opponent feels unique, and I actually regret building the deck that I did, as it did seem pretty OP. The game really shines in the battles once you know what you're doing. Pair this with a reasonable amount of grinding on a certain opponenet to obtain cards from their deck ( By way of slot machine style RNG based on what's destroyed in battle after you iwn the duel), and thus creating a deck that would turn the AI from sweaty neckbeard at the card shop, to tween who just bought his starter deck with mommys credit card. One that transfers enemy cards into yoru control for a turn, a monster that elevates its ATK power based on how many cards are in the discard pile, and a trap that halves all attacks againts your monsters. Low and behold, the first thing i'm shown is the guy immediately entering in " cheat" codes to get certain cards into his deck. Off to YouTube playthroughs to figure out what I was missing. You get the option to fight 2 different opponents, and with the other faired no better. Clearly I missed something, so I rebooted the tutorial, came back to the first battle, and once again, was throughly man-handled by the AI. I didn't understand, I played the monsters in my hand, I set up trap / magic cards, but the AI just plowed straight through eveyting for my Life Points. Fast forward to the first actual card battle in the game and within only a few minutes cue the Defeat screen appearing. Having never played a card game before, but seen one or two being livestreamed, I watched a couple youtube videos about it and figured i'd give it a crack.Īfter X bashing my way through the intro "chapter" and selecting my deck I ran through the tutorial battle, and honestly having played the actual card game I only half paid attention. Surprisingly a lot of the same games were being mentioned on various lists from a lot of the same categories i'd filter by, but one appeared on a list a few wheel scrolls down on a faovrites list from probably 6 years ago, Yu-Gi-Oh Duelist of the Roses. I did like most would and came to reddit to find the hidden gems, most overlooked, and whats you're favorite lists ( Thanks Google). I recently started firing up some old PS2 games that I never got around to since i've had the time.
